Aerial Ashes was born of the idea to provide an airborne, ashes scattering service that can enable anyone to access beautiful and memorable locations over which ashes can be scattered whilst also removing the anxiety some have of handling the process themselves.
Aerial Ashes use drones fitted with load boxes specially modified to carry and release cremation ashes which can be scattered remotely at the movement of a switch. Each drone can carry the ashes of one person and will either fly the occasion as a singleton, or in company with another drone used to video or photograph as required.
Aerial Ashes operate from a take-off and landing area that is usually 100 metres from the area over which the ashes will be scattered; this gives an excellent view of the moment they are released, and it is from here that the drones are prepared including loading the ashes. Friends and relatives who choose to be present are most welcome to be part of the ashes scattering; some like to take their own photographs of the occasion whilst others even like to operate the ashes release switch.
Come the day of the flight, the meeting point is that selected for take-off and landing. It is usually around 100 metres from the area over which the ashes will be scattered which gives an excellent view of the moment ashes are released; it is from here that the Aerial Ashes pilot prepares the drone including loading the ashes.
Friends and relatives who choose to be present are made extremely welcome. Some like to take their own photographs whilst others even like to operate the ashes release switch… and when the ashes are released, they produce a light grey plume that disperses beautifully and falls gently in a trail behind the drone leaving hardly a trace.
